Huawei Watch : Android wearable

Huawei Watch : Android wearable
Huawei Watch : Android wearable

Despite showing off the watch at Mobile World Congress back in February, we still don’t have a solid launch date for the upcoming Huawei Watch. The surprise breakout hit of the show, last we heard the watch was delayed until sometime in September or October of this year.

That’s not too far off and as so often is the case, the closer we get to a launch, the more leaks start pouring out onto the web.

The Huawei Watch is one of the better looking Android Wear watches we’ve seen, mixing together high-end hardware, with a fully round watch face (sorry, Motorola). It’s almost crazy to think Huawei was the one behind it.

There was little doubt, in our minds, this classy looking tech would be billed as something more luxurious to compete with the Apple Watch Edition and if this recently leaked packaging is any indication, expect the Huawei Watch to carry a higher-than-usual price tag to match.

Italian website HDblog has the scoop, showing off the sleek leather box with gold trim throughout. We have to say, it’s a stark contrast from the cardboard packaging that normally accompanies Android Box , especially Android Wear watches.

Now, we’re not saying the packaging or box is some kind of selling point, just that this could be a hint that pricing — which still hasn’t been revealed — might be a little higher than we initially expected. Oh, and don’t forget to check out our hands-on video from MWC down below.

"Power Text "stop prank from crashing iPhones

"Power Text "stop prank from crashing iPhones

Have you heard about the glitch with Apple's latest iOS software that will automatically shut down your iPhone?

If not, and you're an iPhone user, you should know there's an "effective power text," which is a particular string of characters being sent via power text that shuts down an iPhone from a remote location.

The message also disrupts the functionality of the Apple Watch if it's connected to the iPhone where the power text is sent, reports .

The specific power text message was revealed by Reddit user cbhunt14 on Tuesday.

While the power text in question doesn't damage the iPhone or Apple Watch, pranksters are using it to crash people's iPhones when they aren't in use, according to Mashable.

PREVENTING A CRASH
While Apple says it's working on a solution to the problem, there's a simple quick fix: use the phone settings to turn off the message "previews" feature, reports

If your iPhone is getting bombarded with the new Unicode crash message, do this: Settings⇒Notifications⇒Messages⇒Show Previews⇒OFF

Apple Watch online !

Strong turnout for world's first glimpse at Apple Watch

(Reuters) - Consumers in Australia flocked to Apple Inc's (AAPL.O) store in Sydney on weekend to get the world's first up-close look at the tech giant's smartwatch, which the company expects will be its next runaway hit.

The Apple Watch, CEO Tim Cook's first new major product, was available for pre-order online and to try out in stores - but not take home.

On April 24, consumers will be able to buy it online or by reservation at retail locations including high-end fashion boutiques in Paris, London and Tokyo, part of Apple's strategy of positioning the wearable computer as a must-have accessory.

On Friday morning Apple's Australian flagship store in Sydney's financial district was packed with those hoping to peek at the device, although just around 20 die-hard fans queued out front, modest by the standards of a major Apple launch.

Alexander Bock, a backpacker from Germany, stood outside the shop's towering glass facade. He hopes to save enough money to buy the sports version of the watch, he said.

The Apple Watch sport starts at $349 while the standard version comes in at $549 in the U.S. High-end "Edition" watches with 18-karat gold alloys are priced from $10,000 and go as high as $17,000.

"I feel naked without a watch. I think I will buy the Apple watch with the sports band ... I'm working very hard right now so I can buy this watch," Bock told Reuters.

The watch marks the Cupertino, California company's debut in a fledgling wearable technology market.

Based on recent customer interest at its stores, Apple expects demand for the watch, which allows users to check email, listen to music and make phone calls when paired with an iPhone, to exceed availability at launch, it said on Thursday.

Reviewers this week praised the watch, which also helps users monitor their health and exercise, as "beautiful" and "stylish" but gave it poor marks for relatively low battery life and slow-loading apps.

For women, the various sizes and wrist bands make this smartwatch more pleasing than earlier versions from Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS) and others, said Kantar World Panel market analyst Carolina Milanesi, who has been wearing the watch for a few days.

At the Apple Store in Omotesando, a high-end shopping district in the heart of Tokyo, dozens of shoppers huddled around two glass displays, snapping pictures of the range of options available on the different watch models.

"I actually tried it on briefly, and it's so light it doesn't feel like it's on my wrist," 26-year-old salesman Yosuke Hosoi told Reuters.

NOT FOR EVERYONE

Sales estimates for 2015 vary widely. Piper Jaffray predicts 8 million units and Global Securities Research forecasts 40 million. By comparison, Apple sold nearly 200 million iPhones last year.

"Is it for everybody? No, but I don't think any wearables are yet," Milanesi said.

Apple's watch is widely expected to outsell those by Samsung, Sony Corp (6758.T) and Fitbit, that have attracted modest interest from consumers. It will likely account for 55 percent of global smartwatch shipments this year, according to Societe Generale.
Underscoring its marketing strategy, Apple is selling the watch through a handful of high-end stores including Selfridges in London, Galeries Lafayette in Paris and Isetan in Tokyo.

Still, experts said Apple's offering was unlikely to displace the market share of luxury-brand watch makers.

"This is just Apple's interpretation of the watch, I don't think watch makers should be worried at all," Stephen Fenech, editor of the Tech Guide website, told Reuters.

"This is just Apple's expression where they've combined what they are good at with the fact that it's a watch with style so I think there's going to be room for everyone."

JMP analyst Alex Gauna said he and others on Wall Street would be at stores this weekend to gauge consumer reaction.

But the typically long queues at its stores on product launch days could be a thing of the past as the company emphasizes online sales, according to a leaked internal memo from retail chief Angela Ahrendts, reported by Business Insider.

"The days of waiting in line and crossing fingers for a product are over for our customers," she wrote.

"This is a significant change in mindset, and we need your help to make it happen. Tell your customers we have more availability online, and show them how easy it is to order."

A spokesman for Apple in Sydney declined to comment on the memo, citing company policy.

At an Apple Store in Hong Kong there was no queue, although half a dozen customers gathered near the shop door, cheering when it was opened. Demos were by online registration, after which a Reuters reporter received a demo without having to wait.

"I didn't know it's the first day. I am here to buy an iPad," said a 26-year-old customer who gave her name only as Ms Jian, visiting from China's Chongqing. "I will take a look at the watch later."

Apple shares closed 0.76 percent higher at $126.56 on Thursday.

Apple Watch : 11 Amazing Features

Here's What the Newest Apple Watch Apps Look Like and Can Do

It goes on sale April 24 and ranges from $349 to upwards of $10,000

Apple gave more details about its upcoming smartwatch, the Apple Watch, at a press briefing in San Francisco Monday. Some six months after unveiling the device, CEO Tim Cook filled in many of the blanks, such as how much various versions will cost and how long the built-in battery will last.

Cook revealed more about the device’s price. The Watch, which comes in three distinct lines and various metals, is the most customizable device the company has ever sold. The entry-level Watch Sport will cost $349 and $399, depending on the size of the body, 38 millimeters or 42 millimeters. The mid-tier Watch collection will range from $549 to $1099. The top-of-the-line Watch Edition will retail for $10,000 and up. Cook said the later device will be available in limited quantities and only in certain stores.

Apple will begin taking Watch pre-orders on April 10, and is planning to offer a preview program to let customers try the devices on in stores. The Apple Watch will go on sale April 24.

Cook also reviewed the device’s major features, including receiving and making phone calls, reading email, making wireless payments, controlling the music on a connected iPhone, and tracking exercise. Apple’s CEO touted features that let two Apple Watch owners send each other animated messages and imprints of their heart beats. Many of those features had been presented last year.

Amazing Features of the Apple Watch
The Apple Watch will be able to run third-party apps, much like iPhones and iPads, and the firm showed off a few new examples. Kevin Lynch, the company’s vice president of technology, demonstrated a weather application powered by The Weather Channel. Another, messaging app WeChat, works on the Watch much like it does on a smartphone, allowing users to send one another text and images. Other apps included Facebook’s Instagram, ride-hailing app Uber, music app Shazam, and a ticketing system for American Airlines.

Lynch said the Watch connects to a user’s iPhone over both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, meaning the phone doesn’t necessarily have to be in close range of the watch to provide data connectivity.

Cook for the first time showed off the company’s Apple Watch iPhone software, which will allow users to download apps for the device and configure their wearable via their phones.

He also addressed the Watch’s battery life, one of the device’s biggest unanswered questions. He said the device would last 18 hours on a single charge.
Cook showed  model Christy Turlington using the device. She wore the Watch during a half marathon she ran for charity in Africa. She spoke about how the device tracked her run, including distance and pace. In a departure from previous Apple presentations, Turlington then came on stage wearing the device to give a testimonial. “We want to the Apple Watch to help you prepare for your next marathon,” Cook told her.

Apple Watch 2015 : Change the Way People Live Their Lives

Apple Watch with MP3
Apple Watch, its "fantastic" look, and the innovative ways of communication

Tim Cook: Our Objective With Apple Watch Is to Change the Way People Live Their Lives

Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke at the annual Goldman Sach's Technology and Internet Conference today, where he covered a range of topics from Apple's dedication to the environment, the major products the company launched in 2014, and his thoughts on the Apple Watch.

When asked by Goldman Sachs COO Gary Cohn what makes the Apple Watch different from other smart watches on the market, Cook recalled the MP3 industry.
If you think about the MP3 industry, we weren't the first company to make an MP3 player, there were lots of companies in this. They weren't used very much. They were fundamentally hard to use -- the user interface was bad and you almost needed a PhD to use them. They're not memorable. [...]

I see the smart watch category very much like that. There are several things that are called smart watches, but I'm not sure you could name any. There hasn't been one that changed the way people live their lives. At Apple, that's our objective. We want to change the way you live your life.

Cook went on to say that he believes the Apple Watch will do just that, impact people's lives in a meaningful way. He says that one of the major surprises will be the breadth of what the Apple Watch can do, and he expects that everyone will find something in the Apple Watch that they can't live without.

Cook highlighted the many design options for the Apple Watch, its "fantastic" look, and the innovative ways of communication that it will enable. Cook says that he "constantly" uses Siri on his Apple Watch, and that he uses it when working out to measure activity.
He also pointed out the feature that pings people when they've been sitting for too long, which he sees in use on a daily basis at Apple. During meetings, he says, towards the end of the hour, people will begin standing up as their Apple Watch alerts them to do so. "A lot of doctors believe sitting is the new cancer," he said. "Arguably, activity is good for all of us." Cook says that he is "super excited" about third-party apps that are being developed for the Apple Watch.

I think everyone's going to have their favorite thing, just like when the App Store came out. Remember the saying 'there's an app for that? There's an enormous number of things it will do.

Earlier this month, Tim Cook confirmed that the Apple Watch is still on track to launch in early 2015, with shipments that will begin in the month of April. Pricing will start at $349 for the lower-end version of the device.
