CNN Philippines) — The shadow play group El Gamma Penumbra emerged as the winner of the first Asia's Got Talent on Thursday (May 14).

They beat other Filipino acts namely operatic singer Gerphil Flores, spunky dance group Junior New System,10-year-old songstress Gwyneth Dorado, and five others from Singapore, Thailand, Mongolia, China, and Japan.




The audience at home voted for them to win the first season of AGT.
They won the prize money amounting to $100,000 and an opportunity to perform at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

Their shadow play final performance featuring the song "Colors of the Wind" was a touching tribute to Mother Nature,El Gamma Penumbra .

In an earlier interview, the four Filipino acts said they were fine with whoever wins as long as a Filipino act bags the grand prize. They all wanted to bring pride to the country and show the world how talented Filipinos are.

The team members from Tanauan City, Batangas decided to join AGT because they wanted to experience the international TV stage and show the world what they can do as performers.

TV talent show Asia's Got Talent was hosted by Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez.
Grammy-winning musician David Foster, Taiwanese-American pop idol Vanness Wu, former Spice Girl Melanie C., and Indonesian rock icon Anggun judged the competition
