Blake Shelton & Rihanna

Blake Shelton &  Rihanna

If Blake Shelton knows one thing, it’s how to win ‘The Voice.’ After four wins, he must have some sort of strategy, right? Wrong. We  got the change to exclusively chat with the judge, 39, about this season, and yes, about Rihanna.

When Rihanna signed on to The Voice as this season’s key advisor, we knew it’d be a good thing — and we weren’t the only one excited. Blake Shelton chatted with us all about how great she was on the show, and of course, how great she was to look at. Hey, we can’t argue that!

“Rihanna is hot! She was so great and so funny, so honest which is— she was really good at that. She really took it seriously and was very good at the job,” Blake told us exclusively before season nine of The Voice kicked off. Well that’s a good thing!

He also revealed that as for his own team, he actually has big dreams for mentors. While the judge do pick their own team mentor, and we’re sure he’s thrilled with his friend, Brad Paisley, to come on, he did have others in mind. “You shoot for the moon and you don’t get them,” he told us. “I threw out Cher’s name one time, and she actually came and did it.  I haven’t been able to get Dolly [Parton] yet though.  Do you think she’d ever do it?  It’d be cool.”

As for his own life, Blake had a huge star mentor him as a younger man — country star, Trace Adkins. “He’s a grumpy old bastard, but he was always that guy for me who would sit me down and go “Listen, boy,” and get onto me about stuff, because especially back in the day, I was way worse than I am now,” Blake shared. “He was about the only guy I would listen to him because I was intimidated by him. Looking back, I’m so glad he was around for me.”

We had to ask who he wishes could be his mentor, just because we knew we’d laugh at the answer. And that, we did. “Who’s that girl in the Carl’s Jr commercials?  You know who I’m talking about?” he asked us. Maybe Ronda Rousey? We’re not quite sure, but either was he. “I don’t know, George Strait would have been my guy.  I want George Strait to coach me… and that girl from the Carl’s Jr. commercials.”
