Kim Zolciak has mini-stroke |
ATLANTA — Outspoken “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kim Zolciak-Biermann suffered a scary health event that left her silent on Wednesday.
After flying home to Atlanta from an appearance on “Dancing With the
Stars” in Los Angeles, Zolciak-Biermann says, she was overcome by a
“mini-stroke” within minutes of her arrival.
She knew something was wrong when the left side of her body went numb and she lost the ability to speak, according to a post on her Instagram account.
The reality star, 37, shared a photo of herself in a hospital bed wearing a gown and monitoring devices but says she’s doing better.
“I have 100%of my feeling back THANK GOD,” she said in the post.
The “Tardy for the Party” singer thanked her husband, NFL player Kroy Biermann, among others, for reacting quickly and helping her during the unexpected event. She closed out her message with #CrazyAgeDoesntMatter.
A mini-stroke, or transient ischemic attack, is caused by a blood clot that temporarily blocks an artery, according to the American Stroke Association. Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability . Hypertension is the leading modifiable risk factor for stroke. There is increasing interest in home blood pressure monitor for self-monitoring, but no published research on the experiences of stroke patients who do self-monitor.
Zolciak-Biermann was set to be released from the hospital Thursday.
