While America has observed July 4 as a national holiday for the past 239 years, the Declaration was actually approved on July 2. Just as historically sound as the proclamation itself, however, is a letter written by John Adams to his wife Abigail.
That's how our founding fathers partied it up on the Delaware River in 1776 when the Second Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the 13 colonies autonomous over the British Empire.
"The second day of July 1776 will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America," the patriot pens. "I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other." In other words, a nation-wide turn-up fest.
So put on that American flag bikini, rock those red-white-and-blue shades, and celebrate independence like the freedom-fighting patriot that you are with the Magic City's ten best Fourth of July parties of 2015.
No other video journal in the 305 loves America more than the crew over at Audio Junkie. That's why brothers Gregorio and Eduardo Alvarez are gathering all their musically-inclined stars-and-stripes-loving friends and putting together a three-day Independence Day Bash jam-packed with live tuneage from Kenny Millions, the Gun Hoes, and a bunch of other bands. Hear that? That's the sweet sound of freedom.

What's bigger than an Independence Day bash at one of Miami's wildest nightclubs? An Independence Day bash at one of Miami's wildest nightclubs with Eric Morillo. Not only will Story be celebrating the birth of this nation, but it will also be the birthday of the 305's biggest club rat and founder of Miami Marketing Group, David Gruntman. Known for his ostentatious party antics, we're only hoping Gruntman surprises us with bursts of red, white, and blue fireworks from behind the DJ booth.
