Tim Curry won The Actors Fund Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2015 Tonys! ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ star may have had a stroke in 2012, but he’s not letting it slow him down one bit.

Congratulations are in order for the sweetest transvestite from Transylvania

Tim Curry, 69, is a bonafide legend, and The Actors Fund rightly recognized it with the well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2015 Tony Awards on June 7. After Tim’s devastating stroke in 2012, he hasn’t made many public appearances, but lucky for us, he made the trek out to the Skirball Center in Los Angeles. Congrats, Tim! Let’s take a look at his wonderful Broadway roles!

It doesn’t get much bigger than receiving The Actors Fund Lifetime Achievement Award. Tim joins the ranks of heavyweights like Angela Lansbury who have been honored by the organization for their contributions to Broadway and beyond. Tim hasn’t been seen out very often since suffering a stroke in 2012 at his Los Angeles home, which slowed his speech and put him in a wheelchair.

The marvelous, hilarious actor hasn’t lost his spark though, possessing the same wit we all know and love from his turns as Dr. Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (a role originating on the West End in 1973). The dynamic actor has been nominated for a Tony Award three times — in 1981 for Best Actor in a play with Amadeus, 1993 for Best Actor in a musical in My Favorite Year, and again in 2005 for Best Actor in a Musical as King Arthur in Spamalot. That’s a whole lot of talent in one person.

“It means that it just sort of solidifies the kind of work the American acting community has given me for years now. It’s very gracious of them, I think. I was thrilled when they told me and I am thrilled now,” Tim told Los Angeles magazine of the award. “I’m doing well and I’m looking forward to it.

I’ve done a few benefits for the Actors Fund and I think it’s a marvelous organization. I hope not to have to use it,” he continued. The Actors Fund is a philanthropic organization that “helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment. The Fund is a safety net, providing programs and services for those who are in need, crisis or transition,”.

Along with Tim, Theodore Bikel, Joe Morton and Alfred Molina also were honored with Lifetime Achievement awards. Congratulations to these talented men! HollywoodLifers, what’s YOUR favorite Tim Curry role? Sound off in the comments and give him your best congrats!
