Biometric Access Control
|
Biometric and digital security company Covetek is promoting biometric access control systems in the Australian market. The company offers security systems based on multiple modalities with both residential and commercial applications.
In a press release, the company pointed specifically to retina, face, and fingerprint recognition systems, but also suggested that other modalities are also available.
Covetek says it sources its technology from “world leading manufacturing partners,” and its arsenal includes MiLock Digital Door Lock and Mifare Card technology.
Moreover, its access control systems are also capable of tracking date and time of entry, providing an extra layer of surveillance security. As such, its offerings can also be employed for time tracking purposes in the workplace.
Biometric access control continues to find its way into more everyday settings such as residential rental properties and social athletic clubs.
While such deployments are often highly specialized and can be costly, Covetek’s broad marketing approach, promoting biometric solutions for the home and for businesses, may be a sign of the increasing accessibility and ubiquity of such technology, and may point to a future in which everyday physical locks are replaced by biometric access control systems on a vast scale.
