Prepare yourselves, Directioners. The four remaining boys of One Direction will reportedly not
be going on tour to support their fifth album and will be taking a
break for at least a year to pursue other opportunities. OMG!
“The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boyband,” a source told The Sun. “They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision.”
The boys reportedly decided they wouldn’t be launching another tour last weekend in London. They have been performing non-stop since starting their “On The Road Again” world tour and have admitted that they were ready for a break. However, does this extended break mean the band is dismantling for good?
It’s been a pretty hectic year for the boys, who recently released the music video for their new song “Drag Me Down.” Zayn Malik, 22, who used to be one-fifth of the band, left the group in March 2015 to start his solo career. It was tough to lose Zayn, but their impending break had nothing to do with him.
“This was the plan with or without Zayn,” the source said. “In fact, the band have been making amazing music and been incredibly happy without Zayn. Of course they would have preferred that he had stayed in the band, but they would have taken this extended hiatus even if he hadn’t left.”
Harry, Louis, Liam and Niall will come together at the beginning of 2016 to do promotional work for their highly-anticipated fifth album, the report claims. After they have finishing promoting the album, the boys will be “free agents for the first time in five years.”
While we are very sad about this, the boys are only doing what is best for them. They should be able to pursue other endeavors and live their lives how they want to. Louis is expecting his first child in early 2016, so that is definitely something to look forward to. One Direction’s last concert together before their reported break will be in Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England on Oct. 31.
