The 33-year-old singer has already had so many adorable moments with her stepchildren Seth and Savannah and daughter River Rose, 14 months, that we can’t wait to see what squeal-worthy moments the new addition will inspire.
To celebrate the news that she is expecting, we rounded up some of Clarkson’s most adorable mom moments.
Warm-up with River Rose
Clarkson and her vocal team warmed up for a London show in the sweetest way ever. The trio recruited baby River to supervise their round of Clarkson’s “Heartbeat Song,” resulting in a can’t-miss Instagram video.
And that wasn’t the only time River helped out with her mom’s Piece by Piece album. Clarkson teased the release of “Heartbeat Song” with a video of her daughter rocking out to the tune.
Inspired Stepmom
In her PEOPLE cover story, Clarkson revealed that her husband’s kids fed her desire to grow the family even more.
“Seth and Savannah made me want to have a baby. I didn’t realize how much I would love [being a mom]. I love going to games, I love the homework,” she said. “I love the challenge of helping mold someone’s life.”
“We focus on the fact that they have [more] parents who love them,” the singer said of her blended family.
Wedding Waterworks
Also in her cover story, Clarkson recounted an emotional, yet cute, moment from her October 2013 wedding.
The bride’s stepson Seth took notice when she was surprised by waterworks during the Tennessee nuptials.
“During the ceremony, Seth looked up and was like, ‘What’s wrong with her?’ ” Clarkson recalled. “I was like, ‘I’m just so happy!’ ”
Prioritizing Parenting
Clarkson told PEOPLE about her motherhood goals, and the singer definitely has her priorities in order.
“I’ve accomplished a lot, but I guess the biggest success I want is that whenever I die, people will say, ‘She was so successful as a mother, and as a wife.’ That’s kind of my big goal,” she said in March.
In April, she added that she’ll measure her success as a mom by her kids’ attitudes and abilities.
“I’m like, ‘How can she learn faster?’ You just want to help them put their best foot forward and give them as many opportunities as you can — and make sure you don’t raise a brat. That is our goal,” she said.
Making Time for Romance
The American Idol alum knows that a successful family makes time to foster all kinds of love, and that means setting aside nights to bond with her husband.
“We love being in Seth, Savannah and River’s lives and having our own stuff as well,” Clarkson told PEOPLE .
“As a couple, we think that date nights are important. We are both from broken homes, and as a result, you may not take time for yourselves as a couple. So we love our date nights.”
But Clarkson and her crew have plenty of adorable family time as well, whether it’s family game night, holiday decorating, museum trips, or taking the kids to meet their idols.
